P.S.

Forgot another important memory....Boot Hill.
When one walks into Beck's back door....which should really be called the front door as it's the one that everyone uses. Front doors are a thing of the past these days. Well, one greets the washer and dryer, the pantry and......"BOOT HILL."
Everyone sheds the boots right here. By the time the sunsets in the West....the boots have piled high and we have boot hill. I was thinking....wouldn't that make a good story. There's left boots for the left foot...right boots for the right foot. Now , wouldn't it be fun to tell a little story about each Being who finally finds their own left and right boot to match and get the set onto the left and right foot ready to continue on with their journey? I'll have to do some thinking on that one.

memories

Hi Ya'All~~~!
Yeah, I know it's been awhile since I blog---ed. Been awhile since I've been with 'Sam' who is my computer friend. Guess I've been busy out saving more memories. I have somewhere close to ..lets say.. looking at 90 years, before long, of them stored away in my 'memory lane' .... that nitch that's hid away in one's brain.

Finally packed up my 'diaper bags' for the old babes and made it up to Connie's for Thanksgiving. I was treated like a Queen. Had my own bedroom, plus my own private bathroom, gained a few pounds as I was being fed constantly and events were planned to fill the time ever so quickly. Each day I was taken to one of the grandkids homes and was able to see how each lived and acted in their own homes. Each has a special spot. I had wanted this experience for years. Now I can make memories of each family and put them in their own daily world. Connie and Lanny did the planning to make sure my flight from 'My Cave" was what I would want.

Funny how their Idaho world was big. Their homes had space...beautiful settings...wild nature was everywhere. Being raised in the mountains made memories more special and I had the feeling of being young again and returning 'Home.' I'm really just a barefoot, wild, mountain lass at heart. City life was never for me.

Another thing about 'big'.. the TV's were big and each place they appeared bigger. The davenports became bigger and bigger and seemed to resemble movie places for their entertainment. Now I came from the world of 'Dinky.' The things in my cave are dinky. Stuff left over from the past...way past. My big world turned to dinky the older I became and I will end this conversation by saying
"I'm grateful for my Dinky World as it's far better than a nursing home." There comes this time in one's life when their best friend 'your car' and your health is what's left in your world and one is thankful for what is left. Then is when Memories make up one's life.

I stuffed myself with Lanny's famous Popcorn the very first night. You have to taste that special treat if you go to the Beck's. I will report on the visits to each home as time goes on. The Thanksgiving Dinner was a ... you all know what holiday dinners consist of. It went over with a bang except Lance didn't get his mom's rolls. His mom had been too busy running me around making memories to make rolls...forgive me Lance. Anyway, I had a thought. Come your birthday Lance, Connie should give a 'roll party' just for you.

There was a funny moment that made for a giggle memory. The turkey. For some reason the big guy didn't take long to cook. Guess he wasn't in the mood for Thanksgiving. Perhaps he wanted to join the 23 wild turkeys running free in the yard....whatever his reason...when Connie and I peeked into the roaster there lay the most forlorn, boney turkey one would ever see. I thought..."Oh lordy, it has Ostoporosis like me." It was the easiest turkey to debone that I'll ever see again. Have you seen the commercial on TV...the gal takes the lid off the turkey setting in the middle of the table....there sits this burnt up boney turkey and the lady says " It's Taco Time."

I want to thank you all for the wonderful Thanksgiving vacation.

Before I leave you again...What is Memory anyway??? Where does it come from? When does it begin? Does it have an ending?
Is it sparks of God's energy that are Joy, Sadness...are they ghosts to be lived, to learn by, and then be buried and put to rest in the Heavens of God? Does one bury the ghosts and go on living in other forms of energy.

I'm getting to the age where perhaps someday I can answer these questions. Perhaps its the journey of a lifetime. Perhaps they are what one leaves to be remembered.

Whoops....I see it's been awhile since I tuned into my blog....been sort of under the weather and going through a time of 'things breaking down if I touch anything.' It must be Holiday Time. I get in strange moods that time of the year.....be back soon.

another Piece

Morning all my Greats~~~!

I watched a Parrot talking today on Good Morning America. It reminded me of our talking birds and I thought you might like to hear about them.

Our life with birds began with a canary that the next door neighbor gave me as the neighbor was getting to old to care for it. They called it Dickie...Well Dickie Bird just didn't fit the little yellow guy. He was a timid little bird and a beautiful singer. I named him Timothy.

Ronnie was one that roamed the Spokane River banks with a fishing pole and one day he came home with a Crow. The crow had an injured leg and he held it high under his feathers and hopped about on one leg. Ronnie named him Mac. Now Mac didn't talk but he was a wonderful pet. He hopped about with Ronnie everytime he was in the yard and he never hopped away. They would dig worms for Mac to eat together. He rode everywhere on Ronnie's bike handles and would wait outside on the bike while Ronnie ran errands etc. When Ronnie went to Scout camp we took Mac down to Nat Park and gave him to their bird zoo. He had a nice big cage to live in and we would go visit him. One day the cage was filled with black feathers and Mac was gone. Everyone missed Mac. Ronnie was sad.

The next summer Ronnie was down at the river again and some boys were shooting at MagPies. Now a Magpie is a beautiful black and and white bird a little bigger than crows. These boys shot the mom and there were four babies in the nest without a mom anymore. Ronnie brought them all home and we tried to keep them alive but three of them died. Ronnie kept the last one and we called it Maggie as we thought she acted like a girl bird. Maggie wouldn't let anyone take her out of the huge cage in the back yard but Ronnie. I thought it would be fun to try and teach Maggie to talk. People kept saying they had to spit the bird's tongue before they could talk. I didn't believe that. Everyday I would go out to the cage and talk to Maggie...What a smart bird she was. Before the summer was over she could say Ronnie, Water, and then Happy Birthday. Was everyone surprised when she would start calling Ronnie when he'd be out of sight. Then she would say...Ronnie eeeeeee....wat.....errrrrrrrrrr. It was so loud the entire neighborhood would hear it. She didn't stop until Ronnie brought water to her. Then I thought it would be fun to teach her Merry Christmas. It was so funny...it would be a hundred degrees outside and Maggie was screaming Merry Christmas to everything and everyone. Ronnie was just about our of high school by this time and leaving for the Marines. We had to do something about Maggie as she wouldn't let anyone else take her out of the cage. Ronnie decided to take her to the river and turn her loose with other Magpies. This he did and we all missed her. One day I was talking to someone on the phone about some PTA thing at school and this gal said...the darnedest thing is happening. There's a magpie in a tree outside my window and I swear it's hollering Merry Christmas. I must be going crazy. I told her to try and keep it there and I found Ronnie and told him maggie didn't stay by the river. He took off to get Maggie. Maggie flew right to him and back in the cage was Maggies screaming Ronnieeeeeeeeeee. It was now close to Marine time so we decided to take Maggie out to Northwest Seed and they put her in a special cage in the bird room but she wouldn't talk until one of us went out. Chuck, your great grandpa who's in Heaven , had taught her to eat hamburger so if someone gave her the meat she would talk. One week end, Ron was now in the Marines, the girls and I went out to visit Maggie...she was gone. They had promised Ron they wouldn't sell her and he would come get her when he was out of the service. They didn't keep their promise and they sold her to someone. We never got to hear Maggie call for Ronnie again.

Mac and Maggie wasn't all of our bird life. Ronnie had a parakeet named Chipper. He was an inside bird. He rode around on Ronnie's shoulder all the time when he was home. They were together a long time and Chipper did little tricks and things. One night Ronnie was

was reading in bed and Chipper was playing on the bed. Ronnie forgot Chipper was out of the cage and turned off the light and went tosleep. The next morning Ronnie was crying hard and ran upstairs and put a little warm, green dead bird in my hands. Chipper was smothered in the blankets that night. This was the last time that Ron has had birds that I know of. He now has fish and dogs.

Now the girls also had parakeets...about five of them and they also did cute things. They were let out in the family room long enough to play around with their toys and they would all climb in this big pan filled with water and takes their baths. They would really have a big splashy time. Eventually the birds were all gone.

I had many canaries come and go. Just before I moved where I am now I had three. Yogie, Gusto, Thomas. Beautiful singers. They would call whenever I would walk into the house. They would ask to be covered up when they wanted to go to bed at night...they always knew when it was bath time and they would get a big piece of Endive to eat and play with.

All of our birds were precious pets and little souls that added a lot of spirit to our lives. If any of you ever have a pet..treat it well, enjoy it, and learn from it. Your pet will teach you love in a whole new way that you'll never forget....

Poem Piece Cont.

Babes in the Woods was my first favorite poem when I was little and I guess still is. Mom's Uncle Frank, gave me this huge, beautiful book of poetry and I had to leave it behind when we moved west. We were going back to Nebraska later and I was going to pick it up. In the meantime someone took it and I never saw it again. I was very sad.

There were many poems in the book and I picked this one as my favorite. I would lay in bed and cry for the little Babes lost in the Woods. Somehow I felt like they were my friends.

Do any of you have a favorite childhood poem?
I'm sorry this didn't print out like the poem. It was my first try at putting a poem from one file into a blog. Don't know if I can figure out what I did or not....Ah Me...

Babes in the Woods

Babes in the WoodsOh, don't you remember, a long time ago,Those two little babies, their names I don't knowThey were stolen away one bright, summer's day And left in a wood, so I've heard folks say.
Pretty babes in the woodPretty babes in the woodOh, don't you rememberThose babes in the wood
Now the day being gone and the night coming onThose two little babies sat under a stoneThey sobbed and they sighed, they sat there and criedThose two little babies they laid down and died
Pretty babes in the woodPretty babes in the woodOh, don't you rememberThose babes in the wood
Now the robins so red, how swiftly they spedThey put out their wide wings and over them spreadAnd all the day long on the branches they throngThey sweetly did whistle and this was their song
Pretty babes in the woodPretty babes in the wood
Oh, don't you remember
Those babes in the wood

Another Piece

I have an interesting game I play for the past few years now. I mentioned taking a Science of Religion course at WSU night school. One month we had to pick a different subject out of a long list of religions and we had to do a lot of research and so forth and hand it in finished in a month. Well I picked "Rosicrusion." I may have that mispelled. I found out where the Temple was and went a few times. It was very interesting. Later that summer we went to San Jose to visit Chuck's sister and look over parts of California. They had a members only Temple in San Jose and because of the course I was able to go through the Temple. It was like going on a trip to ancient Egypt.

One room I shall never forget...One entire wall was a picture of Jesus. It was the most beautiful Jesus I had or have ever seen. I was able to sit and view Him as long as I wished. The entire room seemed to fill with the light from Jesus. He was alive. I sat for a long time and one felt they'd spent moments in Heaven. In the library there were small pictures like the big one one could purchase so I bought three...one for me...two for gifts.

Later that summer I went to a talk at the Davenport Hotel on different religions as I knew it would help with my classes. During the lesson the teacher said something that really interested me. He said to hang a picture of Jesus somewhere where you would see it each day and have a talk with Him. "Ping"....I would use my picture of Jesus. I could hardly wait to get home to take Jesus out of my drawer and hang him in my bathroom.

I've been given the challenge of living with crohn's and that is a hard lifestyle all it's own. So I spend more short times in the bathroom than any other rooms in a house. So my Jesus was hung in every bathroom that I've lived in since. We have conversations many times a day and night.

So, I also took Phychology classes. I started watching expressions of everyone who visited my bathrooms. Then I wrote my lessons about these people. It was a riot at times. Some didn't say a word..they would just watch me. Some would come right out and ask me "why."

Sometimes I would explain the why but the most interesting times were the ones when I said nothing. Some left earlier than they had planned, some took their children home quick like..some didn't come back. It's so much fun even yet. I received A's in that class on the subject " I visit Jesus in my Bathroom." Even Jesus has fun. Sometimes His eyes are smiling. Just thought I'd tell you about my little game and when now I'll watch you when you visit my bathroom.....tee, hee.

Pieces

Shelby, I don't need a need robe. Ha. I have one of mom's and a new one I only wore once. I just liked the purple one because if was so comfortable and the material was so different. She bought it at ColdCreek. I have never seen another anything like it. It put in lots of years so it's ready for a rest.

I wasn't as sad about the robe as I was about my mom last night. I've dreaded putting on her robe as it was the last thing she wore before she never was able to get out of bed again. Last night I wore the robe as I made myself do so. Tonight that sad feeling is over. In fact tonight the robe makes me feel closer to her so....all works out as it should. This is dumb stuff to be putting in a blog.....nite, nite, Ya'll.

bits and pieces

I attended a funeral tonight. Connie the purple robe died in the washing machine today. No longer will the neighbors catch me wearing the ragged memory of my last Christmas with Ruthie. You and Lanny gave me the robe the last time Ruthie, Arnie and I were there for Xmas Eve. The reason I REALLY remember is...I rode up with them to Sagle. Arnie forgot he wasn't on the race track and started blocking in every little car he could find...We weren't going slow either. It was a race and other drivers weren't in the mood for such. All the way to Sagle we played this game. We did let the poor guys loose long enough to stop and get ice cream cones and next pause was a yard sale along the highway...then we found a couple more little cars to play with. By the time we reached your place I just couldn't feel my legs any longer and my brain was in a cramp. Had nightmares all night about going home the next day as they stayed over also. That was my first and last trip up with Arnie. ha

The purple robe hung together many years and went to all my hospital trips and many winters keeping me company through long days and nights. It was a comfort robe. It is now buried in the Arc bag. I have a new one hanging in the closet that I've had a long time and one I bought for mom when she was at Manor Care. I pulled the purple robe from the dryer and both shoulders had fallen apart, the snaps no longer snapped, the color was fading out in spots, the sleeves and front were shredding...well it was time for it's death. But it was sad giving it up.

Now I'm wearing mom's robe and it also makes me sad. The last day she was out of bed she had the robe on and Ron was there visiting and they were having coffee when I walked in. That night she crawled into bed and never got up again.

So you see, I jumped out of bed this morning in a happy mood....and like my mom said...your happy in the morning so you'll be sad tonight.

cont. bit

Mc Kenna...or 'secret' kitten....
Have you ever woke up in the morning and you felt really happy but you didn't know quite why you were so happy? Well that's the way I felt this morning. My mom used to say she hated seeing me in my really happy moods because I always ended up sad by night time. That's the way my growing up was...I was either floating about and dancing on clouds or I was sad and teary. I couldn't seem to find the 'in the middle' mood. I hope I'm not sad tonight.
The sun is out and I've washed all morning long trying to catch up on things because I had so many appts. in October and I was riding on vans a lot so I could get there. That's how my life goes without a car. I gave my car up almost a year ago in November and I really miss it. It was my best friend. Oh well, it will just have to one of my best memories from now on. When one grows older they don't want to drive until they might have an accident and hurt someone. I would never forgive myself if I did that. I quit driving with an A+ record. How about that? All those years of driving and I never even had a ticket.
You have a good day and study hard.....gami

Hi Kitten....Do you remember when we talked about kittens now? I sent you a birthday card with kittens and you looked like a soft little kitten one day so I said we'd give you the nick name Kitten and it would be our secret.....Purrrrrrrr ~~~!

This note is to "Kitten." Funny how things get stuck away isn't it? It could be in your purse or under the bed or some place like that. You'll get it back soon....gami

More Bits...

Mornin ya'll..

I've been up since four as it was a restless night. I think the blogging opened up the memory pathway in my brain and it was busy with words flying every which way. Then my blog was gone when I looked for it this morning and I was about to give up this blogging deal. Sweet Crystal gave it back to me so I'll take another stab at it. Yesterday I have things basackwards..first blog on bottom of page..second on top. Don't think that's right. Don't know where this one will go or even if. Oh well...have to exercise the fingers anyway. Perhaps I should be writing this in Word instead of my Inbox. ?????? Gosh, I wish I were smart.

I will take one more quick stab at the 'name' conversation and then let it go. Among the many churches we attended we went to Unity the most. The girls liked it best. Ron liked his first one..Pilgrim Lutherin so there he stayed. Pastor Larson was one of his best friends and guided him well.

One morning while I was sitting in church, with my best friend Carol, the minister talked about names. He believed we have our name even before the parents pick one out. I think this is true because....up until the day before Ron was born his name was going to be Richard. Dick. I just changed it in a hurry. Judy was going to be Cathy. The neighbor next door had a baby girl the day before and she took Cathy...all of a sudden Judy was Judy. Connie was going to be Robyn but her dad said she wasn't a bird. She was a spring baby and I wanted Robyn. All of a sudden she was Connie. Now as I look at the three of them they would have made silly, Dicks, Cathy's, Birdie...ha. Anyway....so goes the Plan.

While I was going to WSU night school I sat next to two Indian boys from Lewiston. They noticed my name and told me it was an Indian name. They brought some books to school to prove it to me. There was Neysa in stories in books. The American Indian meaning is Young Fawn and the Eastern, like India etc., means Wild Flower. I would except both.

Enough on names....we all have one, right???

I love trees...a tree is an entity so full of energies. A tree is so beautiful. A tree is filled with wonderful stories it will tell if only one will listen. I'm a tree hugger. I have special trees everywhere I live. My tree here is a magnificent Oak in Corbin Park. I walk there all the time to see what color it is and I know it waits for me. I take my lunch and sit on it's roots and two squirrels come out of their hole at the top and inch themselves down the trunk to share lunch with me. It had knot holes you can hide things in. Another Indian story is one told to me when I worked at a book store. He told me this...
Now Listen UP You Young People...find yourself a tree...hug it...get to know your tree. Your tree is so alive. Your tree has vibs that you can hear, feel, and a healing power saved up for anyone who discovers it's powers. You will hear a hum as it talks to you...honest...I'm not just kidding around here. Tell it your secrets. It won't tell them to anyone. Your thoughts are stored in it's roots and it's branches reach towards the Heavens to carry your dreams upwards. Your sad thoughts will be stored in it's leaves or needles and be turned into beautiful colors...then they will fly away and wait another year to be born anew. A tree is not only a tree..A tree can be a best friend.

Gretta...thank you for your picture. How sweet you are. Of all the Beck grandchildren your the only one who doesn't have an oz. of Beck in your looks...you are a mini picture of mommy. Have a wonderful first birthday and keep your red hair...

I do prattle don't I.....signing off...ta, ta.

Bits

P. S.
The reason I started this so called Blog...I just didn't want to see Crystal begging and pleading. That is a sorry picture indeed. Also, if you don't start one she will send McKenna after you. Now this being so close to Holloween having Kenna come after you is frightening. So put up with me as I may wander around awhile as I've been wandering about many years and may not find a starting point.

A note to McKenna...well young lady...I'm curious to know if you remember your secret name I gave you. Do you?

I've been searching through all the grands blogs and I read a lot about God. The Bible study sounds interesting and inspirational. Now I shall have a different slant on the subject of God...don't shake your worried head Connie. As you remember I took you kids to every church there is except Catholic and Morman so you could choose your way when ready. Of course I also took Science of Religion in a college course at night school so I also studied many ways of Faith along the way that I didn't push anyone else into. I know some of it worried you Connie but as you can see...the devil didn't eat me up.

God and I talk together, cry together, laugh together, and I listen at all times for His guidance. He has taught me patience, trust, how to live alone without fear, He sits with me many a time when I've been alone and sick and scared. He has taught me the lesson of when to say "no." He walks with me daily and we share the Universe together. My relationship with God is....."He and I are One. Amen~!
This includes my lifetime and He and I shall write together~~~!

I didn't know which name to use in these blogs. I have many and some I will not mention. I like first names as last names can be changed so easy. Neysa Le Puelz. Now try that one on for size. When anyone is reading off names and there's a big pause...I say 'here.' It's been a head ache but I love my first name. It fits me so well. The name is Indian. My mom named me after a writer who was famous. My middle name was mom's adopted grandfather's name. Le with just one e. The last name, which has changed a few....Puelz...Beekman...O'Quinn...Beekman. I also have an Indian name Shadowwing. This was given me by an Indian Chief during a Vision Quest I went on in the Mt. Ranier era. Boy, did I learn a lot of lessons during that trip. I spent three days and nights alone to pass that test. I'm also Gami.

Something funny...I don't think some of the grandkids even know my real name. It's always been Gami. My mother did not want to be called Grandma so she made up the name Gam. When I had my first grandchild, Shannon, I added and 'i' and there tis...Gami. When Ron Jr. and Greg were in the Navy they wrote letters to Gami Beekman....I thought it was a scream.

Now that I've introduced myself to this Blog....nite, nite.....

some bits

Well Now....I have a 'Blog' and haven't the faintest idea as to what to do with it. Tis not my idea but will give it a try and see what goes....

I'm one of the silver haired ancient ones....looking at 86 and growing wrinkles each and every night. Bones are cracking, voice comes and goes, energy went that-a-way and I'm unable to run fast enough to catch it. My favorite saying is QUOTE....

"Screw the Golden Years~~~!"

Oh well...I have a Harley...my Harley is my walker. Ron, my son, gave me a real Harley Bell and it hangs under my walker for protection. Don't laugh...all the big ole harley riders have one hidden away under their bikes.
I Love Purple~~~~I like all colors but ....that's my favorite.
I like fresh tomatoes....I eat them all through tomatoe season until I break out with hives and itch all over.
I really like that new candy bar that Reese's came out with....the new one..."Krispy Krunchy" and the King Size is the best...har. I like almost everything and each day I try and find my Butterfly For The Day.....You see I had a butterfly for a pet. I'll tell my great grandkids about it oneday. To remember my butterfly I try and find one wonderful thing that happened that day. I shoulda, you know that ole saying, 'I shoulda done it' well I shoulda written down all my beautiful butterfly memories in a book. I would have had a set of books by now for...as you see I'm getting filled with wisdom just cause.....I'm gettin old...I'm busy these last years earning my wings so I can fly off to Heaven one day. When you see an old silver haired witch riding a white stallion and flying towards the moon and stars...if you look real close you'll see the most beautiful wings.....just wave and smile and say "Hey look, Gami earned her wings."
